 Monitoring Your Child's Progress

Parent Portal

You can access a wide range of information about your child in real time through the use of our Parent Portal (SLG) SIMS Learning Gateway. This includes their attendance on a daily basis, whether they have received any Achievement points, if there are any behavioural issues that have been noted and your child’s reports. You should have received instructions already about how to access the Parent Portal but if you have any queries just click on Parent Portal (SLG) support under the Login tab from our school website.

Reports:

Key Stage 3

You will receive a termly report throughout Years 7 and 8. Through these reports you will have feedback on your child’s study habits, academic progress, predicted GCSE grades, specific suggestions on how to improve in every subject and an overall tutor report. Please note that not every report will have all this information as for example, tutor feedback will only feature on the summer reports and we do not issue predicted GCSE grades until the Year 8 Spring report. In general, as your child progresses through school so the information provided on each report increases. A letter sent with each report will explain the content in greater detail.

Key Stage 4

In Years 9 and 10 you will receive a report in the Autumn and Summer terms with a Parents’ Evening during the Spring term for each year group. In Year 11 you will receive a report in the Autumn and Spring terms as well as a further Parents’ Evening early in the Spring term. Like the Key Stage Three reports, you will have feedback on your child’s study habits, academic progress, predicted GCSE grades, specific suggestions on how to improve in every subject and an overall tutor report. Again please note that not every report will have all this information as for example, tutor feedback will only feature on the final reports for each year group. A letter sent with each report will explain the content in greater detail.

Parents’ Evenings

There is a calendared sequence of Parents’ Evenings, one for each year group, throughout the year. This is a time when you, as parents/carers, can receive feedback on the academic progress of your child. Please see below for the dates pertaining to the Parents’ Evenings being held over the course of this academic year:

18th January – Year 11
1st February – Year 9
8th February – Year 7
1st March – Year 10
15th March – Year 8

Your child will make appointments with teachers and record these in their Student Planner.

In addition to this, other information evenings such as Year 8 Options Evening and GCSE Parent Revision Evening are held during the school year.
