    The House System at Reigate School

    At Reigate School, our House System is a central part of our community. It embodies the values and ethos of the school and provides meaningful opportunities for children to develop character, build relationships and take pride in representing their House.

    Every child belongs to one of our four Houses: Attenborough, Curie, Parks and Turing. These Houses are named after inspirational figures whose values align with the culture pride ourselves on within our school.

    Our Four Houses

    Attenborough – Respect, Environmental Responsibility and Curiosity

    Inspired by Sir David Attenborough, this House champions care for the environment, curiosity about the world and respect for others.

    Curie – Determination, Discovery and Excellence

    Named after Marie Curie, it represents resilience, academic curiosity and the pursuit of excellence through hard work and innovation.

    Parks – Courage, Equality and Integrity

    Inspired by Rosa Parks, this House stands for fairness, courage, challenging injustice and doing what is right—even when it is difficult.

    Turing – Creativity, Problem-Solving and Perseverance

    Named after Alan Turing, this House celebrates creativity, logical thinking, perseverance and the courage to think differently.

    What Does Being in a House Mean?

    Being part of a House helps children feel a genuine sense of belonging and purpose within the school. It gives them opportunities to:

    • Lead, manage and organise events
    • Develop pride and passion for their House
    • Show team spirit and contribute to shared goals
    • Support and encourage others
    • Take part in competitions and challenges
    • Represent their peers
    • Support their House charity
    • Work towards winning the annual House Trophy
    • Every contribution—big or small—helps their House succeed.

    Leadership Within the House System

    Each House is guided and energised by its Student Leadership Team and Heads of House, who help promote events and organise sign‑up lists for activities.

    Every House has 10 dedicated student leaders, providing a strong leadership structure:

    • House Captain (Year 11)
    • Vice Captain (Year 10)
    • House Leaders from Years 7, 8 and 9

    These children act as role models, demonstrating commitment, teamwork and enthusiasm.

    House Leadership Responsibilities

    House leaders take on a range of responsibilities, including:

    • Representing the views of children within their House and year group
    • Sitting on the School Council
    • Encouraging participation in House events
    • Overseeing sign‑up lists and promoting engagement
    • Supporting the organisation of activities and competitions

    This leadership structure gives children the chance to develop confidence, communication and responsibility—key skills that support them throughout their time at Reigate School and beyond.

    Creating Pride, Belonging and Achievement

    Through competitions, charity events, challenges and celebrations, the House System encourages every child to play their part. It fosters teamwork, pride, resilience and community spirit.

    Most importantly, it helps children feel connected—to each other, to their House, and to the values that shape our school.
