The School Day at Reigate School

Excellent attendance and punctuality are two of the most important factors in ensuring a child’s success at school. Every day in school matters. To give your child the very best chance of achieving their full potential, we expect all children to attend school every day and arrive on time, no later than 8:40am.

Being punctual is just as vital as strong attendance. Arriving on time allows children to start the day calmly, receive key information from their tutor and be fully prepared for learning. When a child arrives late, it can unsettle their start to the day and disrupt the learning of others.

    Timings of the School Day

The school day runs as follows:

    Homework Support Club (3:00–5:00pm Daily)

We know how important it is for children to have a quiet, structured place to complete their homework, revise or get additional support. That is why we run a Homework Support Club every day from 3:00pm to 5:00pm in our library, giving children access to a calm environment, school resources and staff guidance. This club is open to all year groups and provides children with the time and space to complete work set. Whether a child wants to complete homework before heading home, catch up on outstanding tasks or simply work somewhere quiet, our Homework Support Club offers an excellent daily opportunity to stay organised and on top of their learning.

    After‑School Clubs and Enrichment Opportunities

In addition to Homework Support, we offer a wide range of after‑school clubs and enrichment activities across all year groups. These include sports, performing arts, creative clubs, academic societies and many more, with an updated list published each term.

Attending these clubs helps children develop confidence, make friends across the school, try new activities and discover talents they may not yet know they have. Getting involved in enrichment also helps build resilience, teamwork and a strong sense of belonging, qualities that support both wellbeing and academic success. We encourage all children to join at least one club each term to make the most of the opportunities available to them.

Restore: A Restorative System to Help Children Move Forward

At Reigate School, we pride ourselves on being a community that helps children learn from their mistakes, repair relationships and move forward positively. To support this, we run a daily system called Restore, which takes place each afternoon from 3:00 to 3:30pm.

Restore is not a punishment; it is a restorative conversation between a child and a member of staff when something has gone wrong in a lesson. The purpose is to:

    • help the child reflect on what happened,
    • rebuild the relationship with the teacher,
    • understand the impact of their behaviour, and
    • return to lessons the next day ready to succeed

This system supports our behaviour expectations of being Ready, Respectful and Safe. By offering this time every day, we ensure concerns are resolved promptly, relationships are strengthened, and children start the next lesson with a clean slate.

    Sparx Catch Up Sessions

To ensure children keep up with their learning and receive the help they need, we run a clear support system for Sparx homework in English, Maths and Science. If a child does not complete their Sparx homework by the set deadline, they will be required to attend a Sparx Cath Up session at the end of the day to complete this. During this time, they will complete their outstanding work with support on hand. This ensures that every child stays on track, receives timely intervention, and builds strong habits around independent study.

For more information on Sparks please see our homework page .

We greatly value your support in helping your child build positive attendance and punctuality habits. These routines not only improve their experience and progress in school but also prepare them for future education, training and employment.
